Sonja Purcell brings formidable energy, unwavering dedication, and a deep sense of purpose to the EmpoweredMe team. As a passionate community ally, she strengthens our mission through active advocacy and grassroots involvement—especially in areas of social justice and youth empowerment. 

Sonja is the co-founder of The ME Project (My Empowerment), a bold initiative focused on showing girls they can be whatever they want to be. Her work focuses on developing and leading impactful, purpose-driven projects that uplift marginalized voices and create lasting change. With a strong focus on raising awareness around critical issues, including the human rights crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people and the ongoing challenges of homelessness. Sonja has become a powerful voice for those whose stories too often go unheard. Her leadership continues to inspire action, compassion, and possibility

Geraldine Simpson

Youth Program Leader

Geraldine Simpson is a dedicated Youth Program Leader at EmpoweredMe, passionate about inspiring students through dynamic, hands-on workshops. She holds a business degree from the University of Alberta and brings over a decade of experience in youth and community engagement, blending professionalism with genuine care. 

Geraldine works with students in Grades 5–12, delivering Empowered ME’s Signature confidence-building programs that focus on communication, leadership, and personal growth. She has worked closely with Indigenous communities and schools, where her inclusive leadership sessions help students build self-esteem, resolve conflicts, and foster a culture of kindness and respect. Known for her engaging and relatable approach, Geraldine empowers youth to recognize their worth and step confidently into their full potential. 

Hudson Taylor

Youth Ambassador

Hudson Taylor is a dedicated Youth Ambassador with EmpoweredMe, known for her resilience, authenticity, and commitment to inspiring others. As a graduate of the EmpoweredMe program, Hudson discovered her voice and began to see new possibilities for her life—sparked by someone believing in her potential. 

With lived experience and a strong sense of purpose, Hudson now works with youth from First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and diverse communities. Her message is simple yet powerful: with the proper support and self-confidence, you can overcome obstacles and reach new heights. Hudson is a shining example of the transformation that happens when youth are empowered to lead.
