Harriet Tinka Nominated for Rotary Integrity Award
UPDATE (May 3, 2017): Harriet is now a proud recipient of the Capital Region Rotary Integrity Award. She was honoured with the award along with eight others who also serve the community, including Edwin Bean, Paul Shufelt, Danielle Bragge, Teena Van Boom, April Eve Wiberg, Shelley Kofluk, Honourable Judge James Skitsko and Daryl Meyer.
Empowered Me’s empowerment coach and founder, Harriet Tinka has been nominated for the Rotary Integrity Award by the Rotary Club of Edmonton Riverview. Her work in the community with hundreds of students since 2012 is a perfect example of finding a need in the community and filling it.
According to Rotary, Harriet’s workshops “not only promote culture and art but also meets the Rotary 4-Way test and inspires youth to step up as authentic leaders to contribute back to society and be the best they can be.” The Rotary’s 4-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships and recited at every meeting.
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
With Empowered Me, Harriet’s vision is nothing less than a world where every child feels valued, self-assured, empowered and is never faced with isolation, negativity or fear. She encourages the country’s youth to embrace self-acceptance and being genuine. She also helps women faced with domestic violence reach their full potential. Hopefully the Rotary club will feel that her work with Empowered Me meets with their 4-Way Test as letting people live their truth in a fair and open setting where goodwill and friendships are encouraged, which benefits all individuals and families involved.
Harriet feels blessed to be nominated for the Rotary Integrity Award this year. Winners will be announced on May 3, 2017 and awards will be presented by Lesley MacDonald, founder, producer and host of the Global Woman of Vision Television program.
